EAPA 2019 conference in St Louis, Missouri
CiC’ s Kevin Vallis, Strategic Relations Manager and Kate Nowlan, CEO attended the international EAP conference in St Louis where leading EAP providers came together from across the globe to discuss and share innovative ideas on best practice and new directions.
The conference attracted attendees from thirty-five countries from around the world.
The conference is one of the most intensive learning and networking opportunities available, dedicated to enabling and supporting the growth of employee assistance profession.
Workshops and talks included topics such as resilience and mental toughness, telemental health, the suicidal employee, the needs of stressed out managers as well as ethical awareness.
Of particular note was Nancy Board’s keynote, ‘Women, wealth, wellbeing and the workplace: What EAPs should know and why you should care’.
The session explored some of the issues women encounter when combining care taking responsibilities with career progression, and the challenges that many women face when rising in leadership.
Practical steps were offered for EA professionals to consider when working with this population and CiC will be welcoming Nancy to London in 2020 to ensure her message is delivered here in the UK.
